Christmas Angels, Tussie Mussies and Hearts

These are some of the Christmas Projects I've made recently, they are all in white and cream tones because after years of having a very traditional Christmas decor in our hot and humid climate I decided it was time to cool things down a little and go for lighter colours for Christmas, so hopefully in a couple of years everything will have transitioned nicely. I can't do it all in one go this year so it will have to be either next year or the year after that it's complete, fingers crossed for next year!!

Firstly I made a lovely heart with a 'crazy quilt'-ish style, this is done with glue rather than the traditional fabric and laces. They are very easy to make and they were inspired by Lele Lineca on Youtube.

My next project was for a challenge on youtube to make a 'raggedy doll' following Va's (Bianca4430) tutorial, I made mine in to a Christmas Angel and then I made her some wings that were inspired by 'The Feathered Nest' blog. I'm very happy how they turned out and actually prefer the wings hanging rather than on the dolly.

You can see the wings properly in the video HERE

Next up is my little Tussie Mussie, I made five of these little lovelies and I love them :) They were inspired by Roxycar11 on Youtube and were very easy to make.

I also made a couple of quick glass baubles, they were so easy and quick I will definitely be making more of these next year!!

I hope you all like my little projects, you can see videos with most of my projects on my youtube channel HERE and thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has/had a wonderful Christmas :)

Fun with Tags

Tags are something that are very quick and easy to make, especially if you're using glue and paper!!! Here's a couple I made up in the past week, the first is for a little challenge in our facebook group, it's just a layered lace Christmas tree which is so very simple yet I love how effective it is. There's a little jewel for the top and some lace and fabric for the tassle .... easy!!!!

The next one is for a little swap it did with a lady called Sara, it was meant to be a Christmas tag but evolved into something entirely different once I got started, lol!!! I call it my little whimsical Christmas fairy tag but I really don't thing there's much Christmas on it at all. I really love the colours and the skirt and the mix of the metals with the butterflies and then the touch of whimsy in the floaty skirt. It came together very quickly and I think the finished tag is just lovely :)

Lace Spools and an Altered Chocolate Box

I love Pinterest lately, I could spend hours just browsing through all the gorgeous photos they have, which I often do late at night when I should be sleeping. I was admiring pictures last week when I came across a lovely photo of some lace spools someone had made from toilet paper rolls!!! haha I loved the idea and quickly set about trying to make my own and these are what I came up with :) I just covered a toilet paper roll with book paper, made two circle shapes from cardboard 1/2" larger than the rolls and covered them with book paper also. Glued it all together and decorated the top with an assortment of doily bits, flowers, pearls lace and flowers. Pretty easy really yet very effective and a lovely way to display your favourite laces or to give as a gift to someone special.

The little chocolate box was found in a thrift shop, I really liked the shape and size of it. As with the spools this was also covered in book paper, I would love to get my hands on some music paper for projects such as these but all in good time I guess. The box is decorated with a mixture of fabric, metal and resin flowers along with lace, appliqués and doilies. There are a few pearls scattered around and a lovely vintage trim around the sides. A very sweet little box.

I also made a Christmas card which turned in to an easel card by mistake but nevertheless I think it turned out very nicely.

Thank you once again for stopping by.

Ornaments, Tags and Mini Albums ... oh so busy

I've been busy busy busy these past few weeks, still finding my niche in the crafting world and 'finding' my style. Firstly I've made some lovely little Christmas ornaments for a swap over at 'Scrappers Obsessionz' which is a New Zealand and Australian crafting forum, I chose to make heart shapes decorated in a simple 'crazy quilt' style, I saw a tutorial on Lenecca's youtube channel that was very easy to follow and thought I'd give it a try. I love the way they turned out and I really hope the ladies receiving them will like them too.

Next up was a 'Junked Up Doily Tag' swap also hosted at 'Scrappers Obsessionz', I didn't take individual photos of the tags I made but I did show them in a video which you can find here.

I also somehow found time to create my very first mini album. I did a swap with Kimibee09 on YouTube, we agreed to make the minis in a Shabby Chic style interpreted any way we wanted. I've never really done Shabby Chic before so was flying a little blind but I did find some lovely papers to help me along. I used the 'Sweet Nothings' collection by Kaisercraft which are really gorgeous. I filmed the album once it was complete so you can see it all HERE

I really do love the way it turned out but I don't think I captured 'Shabby Chic' the way I imagine it to be. I'm going to keep trying at this theme and see what I can come up with.

You can also see the gorgeous album Kim made for me in her video here

and if you'd like to see a very long video of me opening up my package and seeing the album for the first time, you can watch it HERE :)

Thank you so much for stopping by :)

My first card and a Christmas 'Cigar Box' Swap

I recently made my first 'normal card' and what I mean by normal is 'everyday' card :) It was created for a lady who was my swap partner in the 'Nothing But Crafts' Christmas swap. We were meant to create at least six Christmas cards and alter a cigar box (or similar) according to their taste, my partner had said she liked 'Vintage, cream and black' so that's the information I went by.  We were also to fill the box with some goodies. Each of us have a different partner which means the lady that I made mine for is not necessarily making a box and cards for me :) which makes for a very interesting swap.

Unfortunately my daughter deleted all pictures and video of the items I sent to my partner, yes I was a little upset with this because they were the first cards I'd ever made and the first altered box I'd done :( but life goes on and I forgive here, haha ..... the lady has received the package now so I'll link it here for you all to see.

And here's a photo of my 'first altered cigar box' that Barbara later uploaded :)

Now on to my first 'normal card'

This is a card I made using the 'Romance Novel' paper by Prima, a couple of  'I am Roses' flowers and a fabric flower I had, some seam binding and a stick pin that I put together. There are a couple of different lace trims and some kaisercraft pearl bling. I have to say I'm quite happy with how it turned out, I did stamp a sentiment on the small envelope before I sent it off to Barbara.

Altered Tag Holder

I've been making a couple of projects lately, one is an 'Altered Tag Holder' for all my tags I've been making lately for various challenges. I decided I needed a home for them all because I can't have them hanging around due to my lack of crafting space so I made a tag holder.

I used the packaging from a potatoe chip box for the tags, this box was nice and big so my tags were plenty long enough for my tags.  I just cut them out and covered the front and back covers with the Tim Holtz Ideology paper I picked up from the Yard Sale at my local scrapbooking store. On the inside tags/pages I covered the face with some packaging paper from  Tiawan with no embellishing at all as this is where the altered tags will lie against and decorated the backs of the large tags/pages with various Creative Memories papers. I also added a journalling spot to the backs along with a flower embellishment.

All the pages were joined together with a ring and I added some ribbons and lace to this.

The cover was decorated with the Prima Romantique paper collection 'Orchard', I love this paper and wanted to use the picture of the girls climbing the tree so I fussy cut it out and added a few flowers from 'I am Roses', there's also some lace from 'DK Crafts' that I used to make a flower with, ribbon with pearls from my local scrap shop, a couple of paper flowers I made myself

There's some embroidered flowers, pearls, kaisercraft pearl flourish, leaf ribbon and a lovely shabby pink flower that I added a little ink to. I also added a little Stickles to glam it up a little too :)

It's strong enough to stand by itself and large enough to give each altered tag some room. Eventually it will be hung up on a special stand :)

Thanks for taking the time to stop off at my blog and I hope you like my project :)

Stacked Book Boxes

I've seen a lot of 'Stacked Book' projects on youtube lately and was inspired to alter my own. I decided not to make my boxes from scratch as there were some 'book boxes' on sale at the local warehouse so I grabbed three of those to alter.

I used a combination of Prima's "Tea Tyme" and "Romantique" papers to cover the boxes, these are all gorgeous papers and so nice to work with.

Recently I purchased a bag of flowers from ebay and there were a huge variety in them which I used on this project, the soft colours went perfectly and the realism looked just right. On the top box I placed a doiley that I had made smaller and gathered up so that a bouquet of flowers could sit on top. I used a couple of my metal leaves and some seam binding to tie it all together. There's a splattering of pearls, a large crystal bead and a stick pin I put together. A charm also hangs down which has beads, pearls and a charm of a perfume bottle from 'DK Crafts'. Also on the top is a butterfly which I cut out of some Kaisercraft paper and stickled around the edge.

The next two boxes are lightly decorated with flowers and lace.

I really enjoyed putting this project together and the fact that it's useable storage space too!!! Always a bonus when space is limited :)

Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you like my book stack :)

The Beginning

Although there is nothing of real interest on my Blog right now be assured that there will be things coming in the near future :)

In the meantime please head on over to Suziqu's Threadworks Blog and take a look around. I found this blog courtesy of 'roxycar11' on youtube and have spent many hours pouring over the beautiful works there. If I ever craft at a fraction of this lady's talent I will be very happy :)
